San Jose felt snubbed by the NFL in 2016. Will Super Bowl LX in 2026 be different?

With the official announcement that the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium will host Super Bowl LX in 2026, a sense of jubilation is pervading the region, a much-needed injection of positive national attention amid all the sobering news of tech layoffs and population declines.San Jose’s political and business leaders are applauding the decision, but remain a bit leery. They hope it won’t be a repeat of Super Bowl 50 in 2016 when America’s most popular sport shone its spotlight heavily on San Francisco, leaving the South Bay city in the shadows with a small slice of the financial windfall — and a bit of a bruised ego.“While we’re excited about the announcement, in 2016, there was a little disappointment from the businesses here,” said San Jose’s Chamber of Commerce leader Derrick Seaver. John Poch, executive director of the San Jose Sports Authority, said Super Bowl 50 “was focused as San Francisco’s Super Bowl, not S...How to get deals for Hamburger Month 2023 and Hamburger Day, May 28

Federal prosecutors are raising concerns that a former Orange County police chief’s court filing, with dozens of pages of seemingly rhetorical conspiracy-oriented questions, could signal he plans to turn his Jan. 6 insurrection trial into a “circus.”Alan Hostetter — a former San Clemente resident who briefly led the La Habra Police Department before becoming a yoga instructor and a conservative activist — is accused of teaming with a Ladera Ranch entrepreneur and four alleged far-right militia members from Riverside County for a conspiracy leading up to the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol.Last week, Hostetter — acting as his own attorney — responded to a routine, procedural filing by federal prosecutors regarding what evidence will be presented at trial with a lengthy motion referencing dozens of conspiracy theories, including those surrounding Jan. 6, the JFK assassination, the Sept. 11 attacks and the recent firing of Fox News host Tucker Carlson.Prosecutors this week filed a re...What to know about the Warriors’ pivotal summer: Free agents, biggest need, key dates and more

Myers has a close relationship with coach Steve Kerr, who’s signed through next season. He also has earned the trust of the team’s dynastic nucleus of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.“He’s so important to everything that we do,” Green said of Myers back in March. “I watch this league, GMs don’t keep a pulse on the team like Bob keeps a pulse of this team, maybe two other GMs in the league right now would come down to the bench and say something. The purportedly landmark Colorado River water supply deal announced Monday is hardly cause for celebration. The three-year agreement between California, Arizona, Nevada and the federal government merely kicks the can down the road rather than directly confronting the growing water crisis. The problem is simple: Water officials have for a century promised far more water than the Colorado River can provide. Climate change and the recent drought have exacerbated the situation, dropping the level of the river’s flows by about one-third in recent years. As a result, the nation’s largest reservoirs — Lake Powell and Lake Mead — may not be able to provide water and generate electricity for millions of Southern California, Arizona and Nevada residents.Yet farmers, cities and irrigation districts continue to demand access to the supply guaranteed by their water rights contracts. It’s against that background that Monday’s deal was struck. After years of failed...Four-bedroom home sells for $1.8 million in Pleasanton

We’ve all seen the news — the Oakland A’s owners entered an agreement to purchase land near the Las Vegas strip for a new ballpark. For years now the team’s owner, billionaire John Fisher, has been playing Oakland and Las Vegas against each other in hopes of gaining a massive taxpayer subsidy to build a luxury stadium complex. After Oakland refused a deal involving $1 billion of taxpayer subsidies — funds that could instead be allocated to housing, homelessness, clean streets and public safety — for this private project, it was only a matter of time before Fisher made his Las Vegas play. However, the Nevada deal is far from certain. What the A’s should do is build a state-of-the-art facility at their current Oakland Coliseum site along with housing, shopping, restaurants and entertainment. The Coliseum has been home to the team since 1968. The venue is surrounded by transit, light-rail and a nearby airport. (KRON) -- Target has been selling LGBTQ clothes and other items for more than a decade. But this year, just weeks a week from pride month, the store said it's removing some of those items because some of their employees have been involved in violent confrontations with customers who don't approve.“Since introducing this year’s collection, we’ve experienced threats impacting our team members’ sense of safety and well-being while at work,” Target said in a statement Tuesday. At the center of the controversy seems to be certain swimsuits for the transgender community.Governor Gavin Newsom has chimed in saying this isn't just a couple of stores in the south. There is a systemic attack on the gay community across the country. "CEO of Target Brian Cornell selling out the LGBTQ+ community to extremists is a real profile in courage," Newsom tweeted. "Wake up America. This doesn't stop here. You're Black? You're Asian? You're Jewish? You're a woman? You're next."Pride Month is held in June ...Latest news
