1 transported with serious injuries after single-vehicle collision in northeast Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin-Travis County EMS and Austin Fire conducted a vehicle rescue in northeast Austin Sunday afternoon.ATCEMS said there was a single-vehicle collision in the 1600 block of Dungan Lane with one patient involved who was pinned in their vehicle.According to officials, the person was extricated from the vehicle, and medics transported them to Dell Seton Medical Center with serious and potentially life-threatening injuries.

After filing for salary arbitration last week, winger Brandon Duhaime agreed to a 1-year, $1.1 million contract with the Wild on Sunday.This was the expected outcome despite the fact that the 26-year-old Duhaime filed for salary arbitration. Most players leaguewide come to a resolution with their respective team before an independent arbitrator has to get involved.The structure of the new deal means Duhaime will be an unrestricted free agent next summer. He’s coming off the best performance of his career last season during which he posted 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) across 51 games.Though he’s likely to fill a role in the bottom half of the lineup next season, Duhaime is a candidate to move up into the top of the lineup. Juvenile in custody for St. Louis County murder

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A juvenile is in custody for a weekend murder in north St. Louis County.According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis County Police Department, the killing took place Saturday just before 1:30 p.m. in the 14300 block of Ocean View Court.Officers arrived to find a young man inside a home with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.Detectives with the department’s Crimes Against Persons unit arrested another juvenile for the shooting. The suspect has been transferred to county family court.

Sunday storms cause new round of power outages

ST. LOUIS - A strong line of thunderstorms Sunday afternoon knocked out power for tens of thousands of residents in the St. Louis region.According to Ameren Missouri, approximately 23,000 customers were without power as of 5 p.m. The majority of outages were reported in Jefferson County and westerly St. Louis County.Damaging winds reached 60 miles per hour in some places, according to the National Weather Service's St. Louis office.More thunderstorms, potentially severe ones, can be expected later tonight around 10 p.m., bringing with them hail and another round of pernicious winds.This weather pattern will continue for the better part of the coming week.

‘Troubling’: 1 in 5 American workers experience toxic workplace

The results of a new survey indicate nearly 1 in 5 U.S. workers experience working under “toxic” conditions, with 22% of workers saying it has negatively affected their mental health.These concerning numbers come from the 2023 Work in America Survey from the American Psychological Association.“The number of individuals who report experiencing a toxic workplace without protection from harm is troubling,” Arthur C. Evans Jr., Ph.D., APA’s chief executive officer, said in a release. “No one should feel fear at work. It is clear there is much work to be done to foster a positive work environment for all workers in the nation.”The mental health implications are severe, according to the study.Those who reported a toxic work environment were three times more likely to experience mental health harm when compared to those who reported a healthy workplace. 1 dead, 1 critically injured after being knocked from gondola at Quebec resort

MONTREAL (AP) — One person died and another was critically injured when they were knocked out of a sightseeing gondola Sunday at the popular Mont-Tremblant resort, authorities said. Quebec provincial police said the crash occurred shortly before noon when a piece of construction equipment struck the gondola at the mountain resort around 105 kilometers (65 miles) northwest of Montreal.Police said in an email that the other passenger was taken to a Montreal-area hospital with life-threatening injuries.Investigators from the major crimes division were sent to the scene. The Tremblant Resort Association declined to comment on the accident, but said in a post on Facebook that activities at the mountain were suspended after the accident.Source
