FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets running back Breece Hall was activated from the physically unable to perform list Tuesday, a day after the team agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Dalvin Cook.Hall was carted off the field in Denver in Week 7 last season after tearing the ACL and injuring the meniscus in his left knee in the second quarter of the Jets’ 16-9 victory — ending a promising rookie season. He has been working his way back to the practice field throughout the offseason and the Jets maintained optimism Hall would be ready to play in the season opener against Buffalo on Sept. 11. His return to practice is a big step toward that happening. The second-round pick out of Iowa State finished with 463 yards on 80 attempts — an eye-popping 5.8 yards per carry — and four touchdowns in seven games. Hall also was becoming an overwhelming favorite to win the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award. A new federal lawsuit accuses the operators of a manufacturing plant in Quincy of violating federal permit limits and standards, and polluting nearby waters with oil and grease, heavy metals, and other harmful substances. The alleged violations of the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act are laid out in a suit announced Tuesday by the Conservation Law Foundation and filed against Twin Rivers Technologies, which since 1994 has owned and operated a fatty acid and glycerin manufacturing facility at 780 Washington St. The Quincy plant is located across the Fore River from a natural gas compressor station in North Weymouth that was built despite widespread opposition from residents of the region who for years expressed health and safety concerns. The 47-page lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court, alleges that Twin Rivers is polluting the Weymouth-Fore River and the Town River Bay on an ongoing basis and emitting dangerous amounts of volatile organic chemicals and other air pollutants into n...At least 99 people were killed in Maui’s wildfires. On Monday night, he showed he has plenty left in the tank. The 23-year-old Orioles right-hander posted the best start of his major league career to open a series with the San Diego Padres, allowing a run over a career-high seven innings in a 4-1 victory to continue a run of excellence since rejoining Baltimore’s rotation last month. A dramatic ninth inning saw former Orioles star Manny Machado come up representing the tying run, but Baltimore closer Félix Bautista got him to ground into a double play to end the game. After consistent struggles in Rodriguez’s first 10 outings prompted the Orioles (74-45) to send their top pitching prospect back to the minors, he has returned with a 3.03 ERA over six starts. He’s pitched into the sixth inning in each after doing so only once while posting a 7.35 ERA in his first big league opportunity.“I feel more like myself,” Rodriguez s...Russia unleashes a country-wide missile barrage on Ukraine as Putin addresses security conference
