New immigration office welcomes new citizens

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — It's been a long time in the making but finally, a group of ten immigrants are officially becoming American citizens. A special ceremony was held Thursday at the new Albany immigration field office … paving the way for future immigrants who will make this same journey. District Director Denis Riordan told NEWS10 how this new relocated facility will be an improvement over the last. “More office space, individual office space in the future we will be doing our work in different ways...and we just have the facility to do all the things” he said. 10 people from all around the world became new Americans. One of them is Marsha Grant. The Jamaica native left the green, gold and black for the red white and blue in 2014. Marsha achieved the classic American dream, overcoming health struggles and buying a new home with her husband and children. Big issue bills move to next legislative session

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)---After a late budget and a push to get as much legislation passed as possible before the end of June, the 2023 legislative session has concluded. But still, big issues such as Coverage for All has yet to be ironed out."I think it’s best, personally that we take the bill into next budgets cycle, and off cycle do a bunch of things that could help us really ensure coverage for all for next year," said Assemblymember Amy Paulin.If passed, the bill would expand health insurance to include undocumented immigrants. DEC: Canada Goose located with an arrow the back

OLD FORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, a Canada Goose was found with an arrow in its back on Old Forge Pond in Herkimer County. Despite the injury, the goose is still capable of flight and swimming. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! ECOs have been unable to capture the goose to ensure it receives proper care. ECOs will continue to monitor and attempt to capture the goose. Investigations are ongoing. 3 juveniles escape from north St. Louis County youth detention facility

LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – An O'Fallon, Missouri, mother is desperately trying to find her 14-year-old son, who she said escaped with two other juveniles from the Missouri Hills Youth Center Tuesday.St. Louis County police said there's an active search for three juveniles.Stacy Breeding, who did not wish to go on-camera, said her son has been at the center since Saturday."I had received a phone call Tuesday evening informing me that my son, along with two other juveniles, had ran from the facility. And, as of today, they still have yet to be found," she said.Breeding said her son has asthma. Police: Child accidentally shoots himself in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS - An investigation is underway after police say a child accidentally shot himself Thursday afternoon in north St. Louis. The incident unfolded around 4 p.m. in the 5200 block of Wells Avenue in the Academy/Sherman Park neighborhood. Woman charged with ramming, shooting thieves who stole sister’s car Police say a boy accidentally shot himself and suffered a graze wound to the knee. His injuries are considered non-life-threatening. Based on preliminary reports, investigators say a cousin of the victim was loading a weapon and left it on the bed. The child then picked up the weapon and accidentally shot himself. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is handling the investigation. Second man facing federal charges for gas station murder

LOUIS - A Hazelwood, Missouri, man was indicted Wednesday in federal court in connection with a fatal shooting at a gas station in Cool Valley earlier this year.Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Christopher "Face" Hall, 22, and another man, Bryant "BJ" Pirtle, shot and killed Devon Williams around 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 29, 2023, outside the BP gas station in the 1700 block of South Florissant Road.Williams was attempting to purchase marijuana from Hall and Pirtle when the two men shot him. Hall and Pirtle allegedly ran over Williams while driving away from the scene. Williams was 18. Illinois extends cocktails-to-go for five more years

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - Illinois will extend its cocktails-to-go for at least five more years. Illinois first allowed cocktails-to-go in June 2020 as part of a pandemic-era law. This allowed restaurants and bars to provide carryout, curbside pickup and delivery of mixed drinks and single servings of wine for off-premises consumption. Gov. Pritzker officially signed a bill into law on June 9 that allowed Illinois to extends cocktails-to-go sales. Shocking video obtained by KTLA shows the driver of an SUV repeatedly ramming into a Los Angeles County sheriff deputy’s patrol vehicle in a bizarre scene that unfolded early Thursday morning.At around 4:30 a.m., authorities say the deputy encountered the driver speeding and doing "donuts" at the intersection of Eastern and East Florence avenues in Bell Gardens, next to the Parkwest Bicycle Casino.
