Big Rig Hit and Killed a Man Near Jensen AvenueFRESNO, CA (August 22, 2023) – Monday afternoon, a man died in a bicycle-truck collision on Cedar Avenue, south of Fresno.Reports of the incident arrived around 12:30 p.m. on Cedar Avenue, near Jesen Avenue and Calwa Elementary School.According to the police, a man on a mountain bike turned left from the sidewalk into the path of a 2017 Kenworth truck. The cyclist then collided with the trailer’s rear axles, leading the truck’s right side tires to run over them.Unfortunately, the man on a bicycle sustained heavy injuries and died at the scene. The California Highway Patrol only identified the bicyclist as a 35-year-old man.Meanwhile, the big rig driver stayed at the site of the incident and cooperated with the investigators. An Oakland County, Michigan man is suing a popular Italian restaurant chain due to what he says was a unsettling discovery in a dish served at its Warren location.Thomas Howie of Madison Heights is seeking damages of more than $75,000 in the incident, in a lawsuit filed Aug. 18 against the Olive Garden restaurant, located at 30600 Van Dyke Avenue.In a release from his attorneys, Howie said he was dining with two other people on March 11. OAKLAND — Months after he was partially acquitted, a Pittsburg man has accepted a manslaughter plea deal and 22-year prison term in the 2016 shooting death of a teen girl, court records show.Darion Brown, 29, pleaded no contest to manslaughter in the death of 17-year-old Alexis Leann Ervin. The Oakley girl was shot a half-dozen times a little before 7 a.m. on June 8, 2016, behind the Rainbow Recreation Center, 5800 International Blvd. in East Oakland. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dropped a murder charge against him.Brown went on trial last April, where he was acquitted of first-degree murder. (KRON) -- A person was robbed by two armed individuals last week in the 1700 block of International Boulevard, according to the Oakland Police Department.On Aug. 16, just before 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the area and located a victim suffering from injuries sustained during an armed robbery. The victim was transported to a local hospital, police said. The suspects pistol whipped and robbed the victim of their belongings.
