Big Bear Mountain closing slopes after historic snowfall BIG BEAR, Calif. -- After five and a half months, Big Bear Mountain Resort has finally started to close its slopes for the season.The resort announced that Sunday was the last day to ski or snowboard at Bear Mountain for the season, marking the end of a historic winter at the Southern California mountain.Snow Summit, the other hill at Big Bear Mountain Resort, will remain open through the end of April for snow sports enthusiasts.Over the course of the winter season, Big Bear Mountain Resort saw over 240 inches of natural snowfall, as multiple winter storms pushed through the region. 1 dead after being hit by hit-and-run driver in Waukegan WAUKEGAN, Ill. — A man is dead after he was hit by a hit-and-run driver late-Saturday night in Waukegan, according to police. Waukegan Police Department officers were called around 10:15 p.m. to the 3000 block of Washington Street after people found the man in the roadway, according to a news release. Cause of death released for missing Navy sailor found in Lake Michigan The man, who hasn't been identified yet, was taken to a hospital where he later died, police said.
