BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s Socialists received an unexpected boost from its main rival in next month’s national election on Saturday when his party won the mayor’s office of Barcelona following a tight vote at city hall.Sánchez’s Socialists, or PSOE, took a beating in local and regional elections in May when the conservative Popular Party routed leftist mayors and regional chiefs in votes across the country.The situation in Barcelona, however, was different. All but one person injured in B.C. bus crash discharged from hospital

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — All but one of the 18 people injured after a bus carrying pipeline workers crashed north of Prince George, B.C., have been released from hospital. TC Energy, the company behind the Coastal GasLink pipeline project, says 30 people were aboard the bus when it crashed on Friday.It initially said 17 people were injured and brought to the hospital but corrected that number to 18 Friday night, adding 17 of them have since been discharged.Northern Health spokesperson Eryn Collins says all of the patients were assessed as being in “good or fair condition” when they arrived at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. in Prince George.She says the last person remains in hospital under observation. Horizon North, which runs a number of camps for pipeline workers in northern B.C., said in a Facebook post that the bus was transporting the company’s employees to a work site when it crashed and it has begun an investigation into the cause of the incident.Thi...

(AP) — An enslaved man who fled Arkansas in 1841 seeking freedom in Canada, only to be forcibly returned to the U.S., has been honored with a historical marker and a new street sign in the city where he once labored.The unprecedented 1842 extradition of Nelson Hackett from Canada on a theft charge sparked an uproar in the British colony, which had long been viewed as a safe haven for escaped slaves. Months later, the British government enacted policies that “made similar extraditions extremely difficult,” according to the Nelson Hackett Project, a digital work of public scholarship helmed by the University of Arkansas Humanities Center. Canadian Forces investigates sexual misconduct allegation against Snowbirds pilot

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — The Royal Canadian Air Force says it is investigating a sexual misconduct allegation against a Snowbirds pilot.The commanders of 1 and 2 Canadian Air Divisions issued a statement on Saturday saying the allegation has been made against a member of 431 Squadron, which is based in Moose Jaw, Sask., and the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service is investigating.Department of National Defence spokeswoman Jessica Lamirande says the member is a pilot with the aerial acrobatics team, but she notes no charges have been laid.Lamirande says the department isn’t releasing where or when the alleged misconduct occurred.The department’s news release says the person affected by the alleged misconduct is also a member of the military.It says the Snowbirds will perform air displays as an eight-aircraft team, instead of nine, for the foreseeable future.“The pilots do a number of training exercises before the show year begins,” Lamirande explained abo...
