St. Charles' Zumbehl Road reopens

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. - One of the busiest streets in St. Charles was set to reopen later Wednesday morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.Part of Zumbehl Road has been under construction for the past three months. The good news is that city leaders will take the barricades down Wednesday morning.The $5.6 million project is upgrading the bridge and storm drains that have been falling apart for nearly 40 years. Crews have installed larger concrete culverts to replace old metal pipes, and they're also replacing the Zumbehl Bridge and sidewalk.While Wednesday marks a significant milestone in the 'Zumbehl Road Culvert Replacement Project,' we should mention intermittent lane closures will occur for a couple of weeks for construction on sidewalks and the surrounding landscaping. ST. LOUIS - Two different crashes shut down stretches of Interstate 70 westbound overnight in north St. Louis city and north county. The first crash was deadly. The second involved a St. Louis city police unit.The situation involving the police officer unfolded about 3:45 a.m. Police first told FOX 2 earlier Wednesday morning that a city officer was driving a marked police unit when the vehicle was rear-ended by another driver, causing the officer to lose control and hit the center median. Now St. Louis police officials say there was some initial miscommunication, and they have released new information.The police now tell us that the crash only involved a police unit and no other vehicle. Police now say that the officer lost control of his vehicle and hit the center median after striking some large debris on the highway. LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. -- A Lake St. Louis woman died early Wednesday morning in a Lincoln County crash. Saraya Sanders, 22, was pronounced dead at 2:13 a.m. by EMS personnel after her vehicle was found in a creek bed.The Missouri Highway Patrol says that Sanders was driving southbound on Route 47 north of Lindsay Road at around 11:40 p.m. She crossed the center of the road and overcorrected, hitting a guardrail, which sent her Nissan Altima airborne.The vehicle landed upside down in a creek. A group of Colorado voters filed suit Wednesday to keep former President Donald Trump off the state’s ballot in 2024.The ballot-qualification suit names the Republican front-runner and Colorado Secretary of State Jenna Griswold as defendants. The lawsuit cites Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, the Civil War-era federal constitutional amendment which bars people from holding office if they have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the country. Firetruck Collision on Compton Boulevard Left Four Firefighters InjuredCOMPTON, CA (September 6, 2023) – Early Tuesday morning, Asia Allen-Bookman and one other were killed in a racing crash on Avalon Boulevard.The deadly collision happened on September 5th, at around 12:30 a.m., at the intersection of South Avalon Boulevard and East Compton Boulevard.According to reports, a blue PT Cruiser racing westbound on Compton Boulevard collided with a northbound firetruck on Avalon Boulevard.
