Canada’s promised Indo-Pacific trade representative to be based in Jakarta: Mary Ng JAKARTA — Canada will open an export development office in Jakarta and has named an Indo-Pacific trade representative to help Canadian businesses enter new markets in the region, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Tuesday while in Indonesia.“It’s really important for Canadian companies and exporters to grow in this region because when they do, that means good jobs back at home,” Trade Minister Mary Ng told reporters in Jakarta.That is where the new trade representative, Paul Thoppil, will be based, Ng said.Trudeau arrived in Indonesia earlier Tuesday with a commitment to keep growing his relationship with the southeast Asian country. One of his first events was an official visit with President Joko Widodo at his palace.The two leaders spent their meeting discussing their growing ties, which Canada views as necessary in order to increase its diplomatic and trade presence in the Indo-Pacific region. Recovery mission in progress for missing Lake Michigan swimmer CHICAGO — Authorities are looking for a missing swimmer's body after shifting to a recovery mission Tuesday morning.At around 9 a.m., the Chicago Fire Department said they responded to Lake Michigan approximately one mile out from McCormick Place.The missing swimmer took a 27-foot boat out before they disappeared, CFD said. Man dead, woman critical after being pulled from Lake Michigan At around 10:30 a.m., the rescue mission was shifted to a recovery with the Coast Guard and Chicago police are now leading.WGN News will update this story once more information becomes available.

4 shot during argument on West Side CHICAGO — Four people were shot following an argument on the city's West Side.The shooting happened around 1:36 a.m. Tuesday on the 4700 block of West Gladys. Police said a group of people were in a verbal altercation with another group when an unknown person fired shots in the direction of the group.A 19-year-old woman was shot in the right buttocks and transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. A 20-year-old man was shot in the left arm and groin area, and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. Man dead, woman critical after being pulled from Lake Michigan An 18-year-old man was shot in the right shin and transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition. Another 18-year-old man sustained a graze wound to the left shoulder and refused medical attention.No one is in custody. Area Four Detectives are investigating.

Judge dismisses Williamson County's lawsuit against Austin for Candlewood Suites project AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Williamson County district court judge has rejected a lawsuit from Williamson County that sued the City of Austin over a project to turn a former hotel into homeless housing. The judge rejected the lawsuit Aug. 23. The order said the case "is dismissed with prejudice for lack of jurisdiction." Williamson County filed the lawsuit in June 2022, a day after Austin City Council members approved funding for the project. The county's petition claimed the property is zoned for commercial use only. They’re therapeutic exercises that constitute small miracles.Wyatt has a rare form of debilitating epilepsy that can cause hundreds of seizures a day. Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome usually strikes children between 3 and 5 years of age, beginning with bouts of staring and gradually progressing to repeated seizures that eventually become so disruptive that many children fail to develop normally.
