ST CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – Parents and students attended a meeting of the Francis Howell Board of Education with concerns on an incident that left private information about students up for grabs. The board is looking to better safeguard that data.Randy Cook, vice president of the school board, told those in attendance why he felt it was necessary to tell parents what information was being shared via a Sunshine request, and to who that information would be going to.“I’m a father. I thought it was interesting to me. Police are searching for two men who allegedly held a woman hostage while forcing her to withdraw money from an ATM in Garden Grove.The victim, identified as a 66-year-old woman, was loading groceries into her car when she was approached by two men on Aug. 30 sometime between 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.The men told the victim they needed a ride to the bank, according to Garden Grove police.When she said she couldn’t help them, they demanded to be let inside her car or they would steal her vehicle. The woman unlocked her doors and let them inside. They threatened her again and demanded she drive to a nearby bank to withdraw a large sum of cash.The men stayed inside the car as the victim went into the bank to withdraw the funds. A man is now in custody after stealing a car and leading officers on a pursuit through Santa Monica on Wednesday night. According to a release from the Santa Monica Police Department, officers observed a vehicle run a red light near the 700 block of Montana Avenue around 11:20 p.m. After the driver failed to yield to police officers and committed additional traffic violations while driving recklessly, they collided with a vehicle at the intersection of 7th Street and Wilshire Boulevard. “The driver failed to stop after the collision, continuing to drive without regard to public safety down the pier ramp and into the Newcomb lot,” SMPD said in a statement. “The vehicle pursuit terminated when the driver was boxed in near the carousel building on the pier.” Despite being boxed in near the carousel, the driver – identified as Nehemias Rivera-Menjivar of Wilmington – exited his stopped car and attempted to flee on foot. A group of four juveniles have been arrested after a street fight led to a man being stabbed in Ventura County. Thousand Oaks Patrol Deputies were called to the intersection of Avenida de las Plantas and Calle Tulipan on reports of a man being stabbed at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said in a release. When they arrived, they discovered the 29-year-old victim had sustained “non-life-threatening" wounds. He was treated at a nearby hospital. Although the victim was unable to provide a description of any of the suspects, detectives with the Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit and Directed Enforcement Unit launched an investigation and were able to identify all four allegedly involved. (KRON) -- A man who was driving drunk when he crashed into a business got out of his car and tried to buy more alcohol after the accident, the Santa Rosa Police Department said. The crash happened at 2:38 p.m. Wednesday on the 2400 block of Dutton Avenue. An image provided by police (above) showed a Toyota truck up against a fence.A police investigation revealed that the driver, later identified as 34-year-old Jesus Carreno-Ortiz of Santa Rosa, was driving southbound on Dutton Avenue where he went into the business' parking lot. The number of Prince William County, Virginia, students with a documented behavior violation for use of a prohibited substance more than doubled last year compared to before the pandemic, county officials told the school board this week.In the 2022-23 school year, there were 1,800 students with a prohibited substance violation. In 2018-19, the county reported 864. It didn’t include data from the 2019-20, 2020-21 or 2021-22 school years, because of the reduced number of kids in school due to the pandemic.The number of students documented for using electronic cigarettes increased from 303 in 2018-19 to 639 in 2022-23, according to school board documents.
