SAN FRANCISCO — A regular fixture in the Giants’ lineup last season, Wilmer Flores has been mostly resigned to a bench role this year. With the 31-year-old veteran receiving an increasingly rare start Saturday, manager Gabe Kapler figured it would be a good time to call him into his office for a pregame chat.“I asked him to come in and shared with him how much I respect how he’s approached this challenging situation,” Kapler said Saturday before the Giants’ second of three games against the Orioles, with Flores penciled in at third base and in the cleanup spot.Already in a logjam at the corner infield spots, with LaMonte Wade Jr. at first and J.D. Davis at third, Flores’ name has been a rarer presence on the lineup card since the arrival of Casey Schmitt and the emergence of Brett Wisely, adding another two infielders to the mix. Saturday marked only his ninth start in 23 games since Schmitt was recalled on May 9.Kapler, who made a 12-year MLB career ou...Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s RBI double in 9th lifts Blue Jays past Mets 2-1

NEW YORK (AP) — Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a go-ahead RBI double in the ninth inning, leading the Toronto Blue Jays past the New York Mets 2-1 on Saturday.Guerrero’s big hit came three pitches after Blue Jays manager John Schneider was ejected for arguing balls and strikes. Home plate umpire Charlie Ramos called the first pitch of Guerrero’s at-bat, which appeared to land low and out of the strike zone, a strike. Schneider shouted at Ramos from the dugout and was tossed before coming out and arguing at the plate.“Just wanted to give him a little bit of a deep breath there,” Schneider said with a grin. With Cavan Biggio — a .181 hitter who pinch-ran for designated hitter Brandon Belt in the eighth — in the on-deck circle and first base open, Mets manager Buck Showalter chose to have closer David Robertson (2-1) pitch to Guerrero, who fell behind 1-2.“‘Robbie got ahead of him, thought he could expand the zone on him a little bit,” Showalter said. “We just didn’t have much margin for err...Search continues for man missing in Grand County

While Marina did not come away with a section title, Bauers called the contest at Dodger Stadium “a great game, and “an emotional one,” according to the Los Angeles Times.Bauers must have felt the same way during Saturday’s game at Dodger Stadium, as he recorded the first multi-homer game of his career with a pair of two-run bombs off Los Angeles starter Michael Grove. The first blast came in the second inning and traveled 414 feet at 107.6 miles per hour.
