The rebuild of the Chicago White Sox rebuild might be months away, but it’s already apparent the current plan no longer appears operative.In the meantime we’re just going to have to get used to the idea the window probably has closed before the core could live up to its advance billing.The Sox entered Saturday night’s game against the Houston Astros 14 games under .500 at 13-27, the fourth-worst start in franchise history. There have been games that might suggest better days are ahead but not enough in a stretch to convince most fans it wasn’t a mirage.Dylan Cease managed to stop the bleeding Saturday, throwing six shutout innings in a 3-1 win over the Astros before a bobblehead-day crowd of 23,341. A sold-out crowd at Scotiabank arena soaked in every moment of the first WNBA Game to be held in Canada on Saturday. To mark the historic occasion and celebrate women in sports the City of Toronto proclaimed May 13th as “Welcome WNBA Day” but it could also have been dubbed “Happy Bridget Carleton Day.”Out of the Minnesota Lynx and Chicago Sky, Carleton was the only Canadian to play in the game. San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani ran into some awful luck around four weeks ago when he accidentally dropped a piano bench on his left foot.DeSclafani felt discomfort but was able to continue pitching, even though the nail on his big toe was starting to come off.DeSclafani finally reached his pain threshold in the sixth inning of Saturday night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, leaving the game with trainer Dave Groeschner as the bases were loaded.That’s when the wheels fell off for San Francisco. Oakland teachers reach 'Common Good' agreement but still on strike

(KRON) -- After seven school days of being on strike, the Oakland Education Association (OEA) has reached an agreement on "Common Good" demands, the organization announced Saturday night on Twitter and confirmed by OEA's Gabriella Landeros. The OEA said it will remain on strike, but "momentum is on our side." Strike Day 7: $1 billion estimate is ‘ridiculous’ fiction, Oakland teachers union says Common Good demands include reparations for Black students, "resources for unhoused students, school closures and shared governance." The OEA has reached an agreement with the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) on these items. However, the Common Good agreement did not include improvements on teacher pay, which has been one of the main demands from OEA. OUSD is "pleased" that it has reached an agreement with the OEA on these Common Good issues. OEA says it will continue to bargain with OUSD to reach a full tentative agreement.
