SAN JOSE — San Jose’s mayor on Saturday sketched out a grassroots approach for the Bay Area’s largest city to improve safety, address homelessness, create a cleaner community and improve its economy.Mayor Matt Mahan, in his State of the City speech event that took place at San Jose City College, said a renaissance for San Jose depends on more than the actions of political, business and community leaders. SANTA CLARA — Christian McCaffrey is listed as questionable with an oblique injury but maintains he feels “great” and will probably face the Minnesota Vikings Monday.The news wasn’t as good regarding Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams. Samuel had additional tests done on his ailing shoulder. CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico (AP) — Hurricane Norma has made landfall near the resorts of Los Cabos at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula. The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Norma, once a Category 4 hurricane, made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane with winds of 80 mph (130 kph) just south of Todos Santos. Norma is expected to continue weakening over the weekend as it crosses into the Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California.Norma is expected to bring heavy rains and potential flash floods to Baja and may hit the mainland coastal state of Sinaloa as a tropical storm. A former Oxon Hill, Maryland, day care worker, who was seen on video kicking a child and removing a chair from under a child at her facility, has received a sentence of 10 years in prison, suspending all but two years in the case.Kayla Greenwell, 23, plead guilty to two counts of misdemeanor assault in the second-degree, Greenwell’s attorney Max Frizalone told WTOP. The Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office originally charged her with three counts of second-degree assault.Prosecutors decided not to take the case to the circuit court to proceed with child abuse charges in the case.
