7-vehicle crash prompts lane closures on I-15

SAN DIEGO -- A seven-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 Monday in the Carmel Mountain Ranch area has prompted several lanes to be closed off, authorities said.The collision occurred at 7:46 p.m. on I-15 southbound near the Exit 21 off-ramp, according to California Highway Patrol.One person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, per law enforcement. Major I-5 closure set for northbound lanes this weekend Authorities have shut down I-15 southbound lanes three, four and five near the scene.The cause of the crash is under investigation.Check back for updates on this developing story.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The numbers were drawn Monday night for an estimated $785 million Powerball jackpot that is the ninth-largest lottery prize.The winning numbers announced were: 10, 12, 22, 36, 50 and 4.It usually takes several hours for lottery officials to determine if anyone has won the giant jackpot.The payout has grown so large because it has been building for more than two months, since a player in California matched all six numbers on July 19 and won $1.08 billion. That’s 28 consecutive drawings without a big winner.That winless streak is due to the miserable odds of winning the Powerball jackpot, at 1 in 292.2 million. 1 dead, 1 injured in San Bernardino house fire

One person is dead and one person is injured after a fire engulfed a home in San Bernardino on Monday morning. At 4:38 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to west Magnolia and North E Street after several callers reported a home with a roof on fire. Crews were also notified of possible victims that were trapped inside. Once on scene, firefighters quickly entered the single-story home to locate the victims and work on taking down the fire. Some personnel were also deployed to the roof to improve conditions inside the home. A fire engulfed a home in San Bernardino (San Bernardino County Fire)Rescue crews located two victims inside the home. After paramedics performed life-saving measures, one victim was transported to a nearby hospital. The second victim was found dead at the scene.The fire was knocked down within twenty minutes of firefighters’ arrival. It is unclear what caused the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
