PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The 31st Annual Harry A. Bateman Memorial Jimmy Fund Fishing Derby will be held at the Frank Controy Pavillion at Onota Lake on June 3. No fishing license is required as the derby will be held during Massachusetts' free fishing weekend. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! The derby is open to the public and runs from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. The annual fundraiser raises money for the Jimmy Fund - Dana Farber Cancer Institute for Children. All proceeds will be donated in memory of Harry A. Bateman, a former member of Central Berkshire Bowman & I.U.E. Local 255 who was well known throughout Berkshire County and who became a victim of cancer in 1992.The fee to enter is $10 for adults and $5 for children 14 years and younger. JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. - Vandalism is being blamed for a temporary loss of service for Charter Spectrum customers in southern Jefferson County.According to Kim Haas, senior direction of regional communications at Charter, the incident happened around 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Charter filed a police report with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. Internet, television, and phone service was out for customers as technical crews worked throughout the night to repair the damaged fiber optic cables.A fiber optic cable may contain hundreds of strands. When a cable is cut, each strand must be spliced back together before services can be restored. CLAYTON, Mo. – A St. Ann man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend and threatening her and the woman's children with a gun.According to a spokesperson with the St. Ann Police Department, the incident happened Sunday, May 14, in the 8700 block of Windom Avenue. Concerned neighbors called 911 to report an altercation at the home.Officers arrived and met with the victim. Five children were present at the home during the incident. The victim agreed to let police search the property, and they found five firearms in the residence.Police claim Edorian Simon struck the victim in the head. The victim's 16-year-old daughter intervened and sprayed mace at Simon to stop the attack. The daughter pulled her mother into a bedroom. The Colorado Department of Transportation is warning drivers to be aware of motorcyclists on the road after motorcycle fatalities reached a record high in 2022.Motorcycle fatalities tend to increase during summer months with the nicer weather, so CDOT officials urged all drivers to be cautious and advised motorcyclists to practice safe driving habits.The 149 motorcycle fatalities in 2022 accounted for 20% of the state’s total traffic fatalities but the motorcycles involved represented only 3% of the state’s vehicle registrations, CDOT officials said in a news release. BRUSH, Colo.— A Morgan County couple is struggling with repairs after a tornado hit their home during severe storms last week.“This one had its eyes right on us,” said Beth Dirkes.The tornado hit right on the home Beth and David Dirkes, both 86 years old.
