Here’s what you should know By Ashley Strickland | CNNAn annular solar eclipse will make its appearance in the skies over North, Central and South America on October 14, creating a singular spectacle for those in its path — and a rare opportunity for scientists.The dazzling celestial event will allow millions of people to witness “the awe and the wonder of seeing a beautiful ring of fire eclipse,” said Peg Luce, acting director of the Heliophysics Division at NASA headquarters.The “ring of fire” nickname comes from the appearance of annular solar eclipses, which are like total solar eclipses, except the moon is at the farthest point in its orbit from Earth, so they can’t completely block the sun. If won, the lucky player will have the option to claim a $551.7 million cash prize, before tax, according to Powerball’s website.The jackpot rolled for a 32nd time Monday with no winners for the $1.04 billion jackpot. Monday’s winning numbers were: 12, 26, 27, 43, 47 and Powerball 5.There have been no grand prize winners since July 19, when a single ticket sold in California nabbed a jackpot worth $1.08 billion.While there was no jackpot winner Monday, there were still some who scored big. Four SF men charged in June fatal shooting in lower Haight (BCN) -- Four men have been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in San Francisco's Lower Haight neighborhood in June, according to prosecutors. The suspects, Jeremiah Fisher, 28, Deniro Gulley, 24, Jamaree Willis, 21, and Chase Goodspeed-Taylor, 25, were indicted on murder and gun charges on Thursday.
