EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Bo Nix threw three touchdown passes and No. 10 Oregon emphatically slammed the brakes on Coach Prime's “Cinderella story,” routing No. 19 Colorado 42-6 on Saturday. The Ducks (4-0, 1-0 Pac-12) were up 35-0 half after coach Dan Lanning sent them into the matchup of unbeatens with a fiery pregame speech that took direct aim at the star-studded, hype machine that has followed coach Deion Sanders' team for the first three weeks of the season. Why is Deion Sanders called ‘Coach Prime?’ “The Cinderella story’s over, men. They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins. There’s a difference,” Lanning told his team in front of ESPN's cameras.Troy Franklin caught eight passes for 126 yards and two scores for Oregon.Sanders turned around a Colorado program that won just one game last year, bringing aboard 67 new scholarship players and opening the season with wins over TCU, Nebraska and last weekend’s double-overtime thriller against Colorado State. MIAMI (AP) — NL Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara’s recent rehab setback has ended his season and raised concern about his availability to pitch for the Miami Marlins next year. The Marlins’ ace experienced forearm tightness following his outing with Triple-A Jacksonville Thursday. Alcantara was rehabilitating from a forearm flexor strain that sent him to the injured list Sept. 6. He had hoped to rejoin the club as it contends for an NL wild card spot.“Very frustrating for me, a guy who likes to compete,” Alcantara told reporters before the Marlins played the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday. “I feel sorry for the fans, my family, my son, my friends because I’m not going to be out there this year. Just try to be ready for next year, I don’t know. Stay positive.”Alcantara plans to meet meet with Marlins general manager Kim Ng, manager Skip Schumaker and his agent in the coming days to determine the next steps.“We’ll have a conversation on the decisions we have to make,” Alcantara said. ...Chef Gordon Ramsay brings ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ back to Fox after 10-year hiatus

We don’t have many shows on Fox, so, I thought “Kitchen Nightmares” may be a nice edition, but all jokes apart, I think the devastation of what’s gone on in the industry over the last three years has been horrific, so ...Robert hits 311-foot homer in 9th to snap scoreless tie and give White Sox 1-0 win over Red Sox

BOSTON (AP) — There’s no other ballpark in the majors where Luis Robert Jr.’s 311-foot line drive would have been a home run.Heck, it might not have even gotten high enough to clear Fenway Park’s 37-foot Green Monster in left. But the White Sox slugger’s curving liner found the front row of the right field seats beyond Fenway’s Pesky Pole in the ninth inning of a scoreless game on Saturday to give Chicago a 1-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox.“It was hilarious because he’s got (38) home runs and all that, and then he hits one 311,” said Dylan Cease, who struck out 11 in seven scoreless innings to surpass 200 strikeouts for the third straight season. “Baseball is funny like that sometimes.”Playing in a cold rain, with the wind blowing in at a steady 10 mph, Cease and Boston starter Nick Pivetta matched scoreless innings before both departed after seven. Aaron Bummer (5-5) pitched the eighth for Chicago, walking the first two batters before retiring the he...Red Sox waste Pivetta’s 7 shutout innings in 1-0 loss

On Saturday, two original American League franchises with losing records played a meaningless ballgame at Major League Baseball’s oldest ballpark, the Chicago White Sox beating the Boston Red Sox 1-0.Indeed, it was a mediocre pair of Sox that faced off at Fenway Park on a rainy first day of fall. The pitchers’ duel, however, was anything but. For seven innings, Nick Pivetta and Dylan Cease shut out one another’s offense. Cease notched his 200th strikeout early on, and finished the evening with 11 punchouts and zero walks. Of course, he had some help from a Red Sox lineup that continues leaving men (10) on base as if they’re allergic to driving in runs; Boston was 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position, stranding six during Cease’s portion of the game, and finished the day with eight hits and nothing to show for them.As the Boston bats took and quickly gave back their chances, Pivetta held down the fort. He needed just 92 pitches to mow down the White Sox, striking out seven and al...‘Enough is enough’: State Police trooper dragged by vehicle in western Massachusetts, 2nd such incident in a week

State Police located and arrested a man with a history of driving under the influence they say dragged one of their own during a traffic stop gone haywire.“Twice in a matter of about a week is twice too many. Today another member was injured when struck and dragged by a fleeing suspect during a traffic stop in Holyoke. Enough is enough,” said Patrick McNamara, the president of the State Police Association of Massachusetts, the trooper union, in a statement released Friday. The earlier incident McNamara referenced involved Derek Lobo, 31, of Brockton, who was arrested on Sept. 14 and faces charges related to allegedly dragging a trooper during a traffic stop in Brockton earlier that day.“This reckless and blatant disregard for the lives of our members needs to stop. We are relieved that the involved Trooper was not seriously injured and pleased that this fugitive was apprehended quickly thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Troopers and local Law Enforcement partners,” he adde...Louisville rolls Boston College 56-28 in ACC shootout

After showing so much promise in a two-point loss to No. 3 Florida State, Boston College got rolled 56-28 by Louisville in an ACC match on Saturday at L&N Financial Credit Union Stadium. The Cardinals scored a touchdown on their opening seven possessions to improve to 4-0 and 2-0 in the ACC. Louisville compiled 374 yards of total offense in the first half and had seven explosive plays of 27 yards or more. BC fell to 1-3 and 0-2 and will host Virginia next Saturday at Alumni Stadium.“The lack of execution and loss of one-on-ones and we were uncharacteristic on defense, I’ve never seen us play like that since we’ve been here,” said BC coach Jeff Hafley.“I did not see that coming, we had a great week, upbeat, and I thought we had a very good plan and we just came out flat and didn’t execute. This won’t happen next week, I am very confident in that.”Louisville senior transfer quarterback Jack Plummer shredded the BC secondary by completing 18-of-28 passes for 388 yards and five touch...Latest news
