State Police arrest Gloversville man on rape charges

GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State Police arrested Lee D. Horning Jr., 36, on two counts of rape in the first degree and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. According to police investigations, Horning Jr. reportedly had unwanted sexual contact with a child under 17 on multiple occasions. Horning Jr. was processed and arraigned at the Milton Town Court. He was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash, a $50,000 bond, or a $250,000 partially secured bond.

150 National Guard members to fully focus on migrant crisis

ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) -- On Monday, Governor Hochul announced the state is deploying an additional 150 national guard members to help with the ongoing migrant crisis. This will total over 2000 national guard members on the asylum seeker mission with 250 national guard members being fully focused on case management, speeding up the process for migrants to exit shelter and attain legal work status. With temporary status for Venezuelans, the Biden administration turns to a familiar tool "Helping them support themselves, helping them leave these shelters because I believe they did not come all these thousands of miles to live in a shelter with hundreds if not, thousands of others," said Governor Hochul. There will be a wide selection of genres, including adult fiction, children's picture and chapter books, cookbooks, non-fiction, and more! Rutland man pleads not guilty to drug trafficking

BURLINGTON, Vt. (NEWS10) -- A Rutland man has pled not guilty to drug trafficking charges, according to the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Vermont. Roosevelt Norris, 54, was charged with three counts of distributing cocaine base by a federal grand jury in Burlington. According to the court, Norris allegedly sold drugs to a confidential informant on three separate occasions between July and August. If convicted, Norris faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $1 million. Additionally, Norris would face up to a lifetime of post-release supervision, with a mandatory minimum of three years of supervised release. He currently remains in the custody of the United States Marshals pending his trial.

LOUIS – One man is dead following a shooting in the Vandeventer neighborhood of north St. Louis City.A spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department says the shooting took place just after 2:20 p.m. in the 3900 block of Page Boulevard, near North Sarah Avenue.Police arrived to find a Black man suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.The city’s homicide division is investigating.

A judge has rewritten Missouri ballot summary language that described 'dangerous' abortions

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri judge tossed Republican-written ballot summary language Monday that described several proposed constitutional amendments as allowing “dangerous and unregulated abortions until live birth.”Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem rewrote the ballot summary to describe the language as establishing the “right to make decisions about reproductive health care, including abortion and contraception,” as well as undoing the state’s almost total ban on abortions.In Missouri, summaries are provided to voters on ballots to help quickly explain sometimes lengthy and complicated proposals. The office of Republican Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, which wrote the summaries, plans to appeal.“We will not stand idly by while the courts hide the effects of this amendment and mislead the people as to what they may very well be voting on next year,” spokesperson JoDonn Chaney said. Small plane crashes on soccer field

Two people are in critical condition or worse after the small plane they were in crashed into a soccer field near San Pedro and Wilmington Monday afternoon, authorities said.The crash was reported a few minutes before 1 p.m. in the 400 block of Westmont Drive, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.That address is listed as being in San Pedro, though the Los Angeles Times' Mapping L.A. tool says it is in Wilmington."Both patients were transported ... in at least critical condition," fire officials said.
