The federal government says it expects the flow of foreign nationals leaving the war-torn Gaza Strip to Egypt will continue in the coming days, even as Canadians had been warned that their safety could not be guaranteed if they chose to make the trip.Global Affairs Canada said Wednesday night that it was aware of reports that one Canadian citizen was able to leave the Palestinian territory at the Rafah border crossing with the help of a third party, but offered no further information.“Canada has one of the largest contingents of nationals in Gaza,” the statement from the department said. “We expect further crossings daily over the coming days.”A list of those allowed out published Wednesday by the General Authority for Border Crossings in Gaza included citizens of Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Japan and Jordan — but not Canada.Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called for all Canadians to be allowed out.“We of course continue to ...

CHICAGO — A former Chicago Public Schools student was awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages after educators forced her to participate in Hindu rituals that violated her Christian beliefs, according to a civil case judgment in the Illinois Circuit Court.Illinois Circuit Court judge Matthew F. One positive from Minnesota’s debacle Monday in Atlanta was the return of Jaden McDaniels. The wing — playing in his first game after straining his calf in the preseason opener in Abu Dhabi — finished with 12 points on 5 for 6 shooting while serving as one of the Wolves’ few apt defenders. Woman seeks charges after sex assault by Long Beach homeless man

A woman who was sexually assaulted by a homeless man in Long Beach is calling for county prosecutors to reconsider charges against the suspect.Following the man's arrest, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office opted not to file felony charges, which the victim is fighting back against.The attack happened on Oct. 20 at 2:15 p.m. in front of Village Market on the 140 block of Linden Avenue.Surveillance video shows the victim, Rebekah Pederson, walking on a sidewalk near Linden and Broadway when the suspect, Miguel Avila, 30, suddenly stands up, exposes himself and grabs her from behind.She falls onto the ground as Avila appears to pull up her skirt and thrust himself against her. An older man sitting nearby is seen getting up and pepper spraying the suspect.
