St. Louis police issue 164 tickets during 73 traffic stops Thursday

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis police had a busy day on the streets Thursday, handing out 164 tickets for violations that stemmed from 73 traffic stops. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department says officers were involved in a high-visibility traffic enforcement initiative on Thursday leading to a spike in tickets.Police primarily pulled over drivers around parts of three streets: South Kingshighway, Hampton and South Grand. Expired tag or derelict? Police called as city tows truck from private driveway Among the tickets issued, police say around half were for hazardous violations (like speeding an improper lane usage) and another half were for non-hazardous violations (like seatbelt violations and suspended licesnes). "We will periodically conduct these High Visibility Traffic Enforcement Initiatives at various locations throughout the city," said SLMPD in a Facebook post on Friday. Police did not disclose how many of these traffic stops might have led to arrests.

PEMISCOTT COUNTY, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has canceled an AMBER Alert that was issued in the Missouri bootheel region just before 2 p.m. Friday. MSHP says the AMBER Alert stemmed from an abduction in Hayti Heights, Missouri. MSHP reports a one-year-old boy was taken. Expired tag or derelict? Police called as city tows truck from private driveway The man wanted in the investigation was Ibra IM Lawrence, according to MSHP. Investigators did not disclose their relationship, but noted that the suspect was armed and made threats to harm the child. As of 2:30 p.m., the boy is considered safe and the suspect is in custody. A brush fire grew to as many as 15 acres before firefighters were able to stop its forward spread in Moreno Valley on Friday.The Lantz Fire broke out at Lantz Lane and Ironwood Avenue at about 10 a.m., and it was burning "light flashy fuels," the Riverside County Fire Department said on Twitter.By 11:20 a.m., it had grown to 15 acres and was continuing to spread at a moderate pace, though by noon, officials said they'd mapped its size at 12 acres after forward progress was stopped.All evacuations were lifted after noon.

SAN JOSE — Police announced Friday that they had arrested two people and seized some 38,000 pounds of illegal fireworks, along with drugs and cash, as part of an investigation into a June 14 fire that caused major damage at a Public Storage facility.In a news release, San Jose police said that they had arrested Anthony Dasilva, 45, and Nathaniel Valassis, 25, both of San Jose, on Thursday.
