3 Los Angeles police officers shot; conditions unknown

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Three Los Angeles police officers were shot Wednesday evening and hospitalized in unknown condition while the suspect remained barricaded in a neighborhood east of Los Angeles, police said.Officers had gone to Lincoln Heights, an older neighborhood of single-family homes, at around 4:30 p.m. and the shootings were reported about two hours later, LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman said.The officers were hospitalized but there was no immediate word on their conditions. Two were patrol officers and the third was a K9 unit officer, police said.Details of the shootings also weren’t immediately released.The LAPD issued a citywide tactical alert and officers, including SWAT team members, flooded into the area and sealed it off.

BOSTON (AP) — Jayson Tatum scored 30 points and made six 3-pointers, and the Boston Celtics beat the Portland Trail Blazers 115-93 to snap a three-game losing streak Wednesday night.Tatum’s 36th game this season with 30 or more points helped the Celtics avoid their first four-game losing streak. Derrick White added 21 points and five assists. Al Horford finished with 17 points, six rebounds and five assists.The Celtics played without big man Robert Williams for the third straight game as he recovers from a strained left hamstring. (CNN) — Three Los Angeles Police Department officers were shot Wednesday night, prompting a city-wide tactical alert, officials said.The officers were wounded in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles and taken to area hospitals in unknown conditions, LAPD Officer Luis Garcia told CNN.LAPD did not provide details on what led up to the shooting or who opened fire.A city-wide tactical alert is in effect, which is meant to bring resources to the area of the shooting, Garcia said.This is a developing story and will be updated.

Oscar-nominated directors thank Emerson College professors

Two of this year’s Oscar-nominated directors have ties to Boston as graduates from Emerson College. As the Oscars approach, one of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s former professors said he remembers the pair well.Kwan and Scheinert, known as “the Daniels,” directed “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”The pair met while studying film at Emerson. 3 officers shot in east Los Angeles; suspect barricaded

A massive police response was deployed Wednesday night in east Los Angeles after three officers were shot.The shooting took place some time after 6 p.m. near the intersection of Mission Road and North Broadway in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood.Video from Sky5 showed a large perimeter set up around the scene for what appeared to be a barricaded suspect.A police source later confirmed to KTLA that officers had been in the area as part of a felony investigation. They observed the suspect walking down the alley, and then go into a residence.Police then set up a perimeter and a police K-9 unit was called to the scene.The suspect was located in a small room in the bottom of the main house. Officers called out to the suspect, but he refused to surrender.
